About CHESOA
Community Health Services & Development Officers Association (CHESOA) was formed in July 2017 by community health professionals offering services at Level 1 (Community Level). The key actors include Community Health Promoters (CHPs), Community Health Committees, Community Health Officers (CHOs) and Assistants (CHAs), County and Sub-County Community Health Services Coordinators, and the partners implementing various activities related to health and development. The Association provides advocacy, public policy, promotion, and education, as well as resources and networking opportunities for its members. A total of 2100 Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs) were employed by the Ministry of Health in June 2011 for a 3-year contract. .

We exist to improve the health of communities by providing quality community healthcare with a well-motivated workforce and through partnerships, equity, and community empowerment.
The 1st International Scientific Conference on Community Health Practice
Background of the Conference
Community health is a cornerstone of equitable and resilient health systems. Globally and in Kenya, community health services play a critical role in achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and improving health outcomes, especially among underserved populations.
With growing interest in innovations and systems strengthening, there is an urgent need to bring together stakeholders to share evidence, experiences, and promising practices that shape the future of community health.
The 1st International Conference on Community Health Practice seeks to convene professionals, researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders in Kisumu to deliberate on sustainable community health systems, innovative solutions, and strategic partnerships.
Objectives
- Showcase cutting-edge research and innovations in community health practice.
- Strengthen multi-sectoral and global partnerships for health and development.
- Explore practical solutions for sustainable community health financing and systems.
- Promote evidence-informed policy dialogue and action toward UHC.
Conference Outcomes
- Publication and wide dissemination of conference proceedings in county repositories, peer-reviewed journals, social media, and on the CHESOA & Ministry of Health websites.
- Practical guidance and inspiration for institutions and programs in Kenya and beyond.
- Strengthened networks and partnerships among community health professionals, policymakers, and organizations.
